A Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE), in the United Kingdom, is an independent body which considers the provision of religious education in the area under the jurisdiction of its Local Authority, advising it and empowered to require a review of the locally agreed syllabus for Religious Education (RE).

A SACRE is made up of representatives of the Local Authority, the. (1) To advise the Authority on such matters connected with religious worship in schools and the religious education to be given in accordance with an agreed syllabus as the Authority may refer to is or as it may see fit; (2) In particular, to advise on methods of teaching, the choice of materials, and the provision of training for teachers.

The law requires every Local Education Authority to have a Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education (SACRE) to advise the local authority on matters related to religious education in SACREWirral SACRE is made up of four groups.

They represent:the Church of EnglandChristian denominations other than the Church of England, along with other faith. NASACRE works to support, strengthen and promote the work done by local SACREs and represents the interests of members at a national level.
